  6. The plus signs are aligned by rotating 
  7. the body of the instrument by 
  8. grasping it by the large ribbed ring 
  9. in front of the eyepiece  and rotating 
  10. it.  Rotate the instrument back and 
  11. forth until the horizontal lines of the 
  12. plus signs are aligned.

  14. If there is no astigmatism the lines 
  15. will always be aligned.  In this case

  17. axes set at 180 and 90.
